Brian’s uncle Jerry past away, so Brian, Kiersten and I are heading back to the COLD weather. Kierst’s 7th and 8th flight already IN ONLY 9 MONTHS! It is suppose to be 30 degrees the day of the wake in Chicago, so I am frantically looking for a winter coat for Kiersten. We do not have that many heavy coats down here, unless you want to pay $70 + dollars for one. So I am looking at Goodwill this afternoon. Keep your fingers crossed. We are leaving tomorrow morning so I must find something tonight. It is too cold to go up there without her having a winter coat already (as soon as we walk out of the airport, I need have one on her). So wish us luck!!!
We found two little pumpkins sitting on our porch!

Most of you know, but incase that you don’t Kiersten has been real sick for the past week. Last Wednesday she felt very warm so I stripped her down and took her tempeture, it was 105 degrees. So when I called her doctor they told me to take her to after hours care. So I did after I gave her some Motrin to try to get her fever down. When we got there, the fever had dropped to 103.2, a lot better for an infant and it showed that she was doing well with the motrin. The doctor said that it was probably just a virus. So we went home. The next morning she was still sleepy but her fever was still down. By mid afternoon I took her temp again and it was 106!!!! I freaked, Brian called the doctors while I tried to make ehr comfortable. When they called back they just told me to give her Tylernol every four hours and if it did not work to call back the next day. Hello, that is why I am calling, I did call yesterday and the Tylenol is not working. THe nurse told me to take her back to after hours - they did not have time for me. It was 2:30 in the afternoon, After hours did not open until 6:00. I was upset and so was Brian, so he called back and demanded that a doctor see us. They finally agreed. When we got there the doctor was amazed of how high her fever was ande told us that we might have to hospitalize her. Ok, my heart dropped. She said first that we will draw some blood and see what her white blood count is, then we will catherize her. I told Brian I could not watch, but then figured that Kiersten needed me to be there for her and that she would be even more scared if I was not there. Well the white blood count came back normal and she did not want to give us any urine after two tries and three bottles. HEr fever had gone down to 103.9 again and the doctor said that we could take her home for the time being provided that wee monitor her very close. She wanted to see us in the next morning.
The next morning, her fever was still at 103, never ewent back up to 105 again. We were alternating tylenol and Motrin every three hours which I think helped with that. WE tried for more urine and she gavew some. Her urine turned out fine so there is not UTI or kidney infection which is what we feared. So we gave her a shot of antibiodics and watched to see if her fever went down over the next 24 hours. Througout the night her fever was still around 103 to 104.
The next morning we took her in and hewr fever was finally normal!!! Thank GOD!!! But the doctor wanted to give her oral antibiodics to help with whatever bacterial infection it might have been. So we gave her the medicine. She was fine, a little cranky but never got her fever back.
The next morning (Sunday) Brian and I noticed a BAD RASH occuring all over her face and her upper chest area. Not knowing if it was a reaction to the medicine we caled the doctor and did not give her anymore. The doctor wants to see us again today to see how the rash is doing. It coud be the medicine or it really describes Roseola infntum. They tend to have a high fever for three to four days and then breaks out in a rash after the fever goes away, it is a common childhood disease. But just to be on the safe side we have stopped the medicine.
Below are some pictures of Kiersten. Most of the family in Dayton has already seen most of these pictures, and probably has a wallet of a couple, but I wanted to share it with the family in Indiana, Chicago & Michigan. Let me know if you would like some of these.
KIERSTEN AT 7 MONTHS

KIERSTEN AT 8 MONTHS

Well as you can see from all the pictures Kiersten is really starting to grow up. Brian and I had to pack away a lot of things such as her swing, changing table (she moves to much to keep her on it), bouncy seat and a few toys. We lowered her crib and replaced her infant seat with a bigger car seat. A real nice one that will last her until she is 100 pounds (For you who do not know it is recommended to keep a child in a booster seat until they are 10 or a 100 pounds. Required until age 7, 80 pounds. So we spent a little more money but it will last for a long time. But anyways, as most mothers do, I cried because my little baby is growing up and Brian got excited because she is growing up. Must be another difference between husband and wife!!
