What a big girl!!!

10 lbs, 2 oz; 22 1/2 inches, with a 15 inch head. Yes, those are the stats of our Kiersten. AT two months of age she has almost doubled in size. She is becoming a big girl!!! Dr. Curtin, out pediatrician said that Kiersten is really healthyand seems to be a happy child (in between her screams). Kiersten got four shots today. They say that it is harder on the parents than the child. It is really hard to go through that. Brian has yet to experience givng her a shot, so her next appointment at four months, i made it at 5:00 so he can go with her.

love of a parent

Filed under: Uncategorized — Wrote by mom on Monday, April 28th, 2003 @ 3:24 pm

You never truly know the love that your parents have for you until you become a parent yourself!!! Once you become a parent, there is nothing more important in your life as your family. I have been thinking lately as the type of parent I would like to be to Kiersten. First most, I want to show her not only that I love her with all my heart, but I love her father with all of my heart as well. I want her to realize that she is not the center of the family, but rather a part of this family. I feel that is very important for a child to understand. It not only gives them the sence of being loved, but belonging somewhere. Plus it also allows them to understand how a true relationship should be, which is very important so they grow up and choose the right person in for their life.

I also feel what is important is to never expect anything from her. I can hope and pray that we instill the right values in her to make the right decisions in life, but never to expect, because when you expect things, you are bound to be let down.

It is also important that I make her feel like she owes me anything for the things that I have done for her, including raising her and the sacrifices that I will have to make for her along the way. If I were to make her feel that way, it could mean that one day I loose her and her friendship. I want to show her how much I appreciate her in my life and maybe she will return the feeling back to me. Besides, Brian and I choose to bring her into this world, just being here is the best thing that I have ever received.

What’s in the name Kiersten?

Filed under: Uncategorized — Wrote by mom on Sunday, April 27th, 2003 @ 3:09 pm

Everywhere I go, I always get asked what is your baby’s name. When I say Kiersten Averie, 9 times out of 10, they ask me where I got that name from. No it was not a family name, in fact I am really not sure where and how I came up with her name. Before Brian and I found out that we were having a girl, we only had the name Corrine picked out for her. While I was not a hundred percent sure that I wanted to name her that, i thought it woiuld be nice to name her after my great-grandmother. But as soon as I saw Kiersten’s picture on the ultrasound. I knew that she would not fit that name at all. She would need a better, stronger name than Corrine. So after the ultrasound Brian and i had to see the doctor, during the long wait for him to come in, we started to throw out names to each other. Kiersten Averie was the first name out of my mouth. For the first time Brian agreed that he liked it. Ever since then it just stuck.

But how did I come up with Kiersten. I didn’t know any Kiersten’s, nor was it a name that I picked out I wanted to name my daughter when I had one. Actually, I did not even think that there were any actresses named Kiersten. But the other day I found out that I was wrong. There are actually seven actresses named Kiersten, 2 which are famous. One will be in the made for TV movie the Painted House tonight. It was a great book. I hope a great movie as well. The other one, Kiersten Van Horne, was in TV shows like the West Wing.

So what does the name Kiersten mean? Well it is really hard to find the meaning of Kiersten. The most you usually get is that it is a for of kirsten. If we go by that note though, Kirsten means
Christian in Greek. The name Kiersten does rank 3,182 on a popularity scale. That really surprised me. Especially since their was a Kiersten that was born in the hospital on the same day as me and there was a Kiersten Willey born in Cape Cod just one day before our Kiersten Willey–Unfortunally I can not find the web page anymore. However, with Kiersten being such an unpopular name, maybe she will be the only one in her class with that name.

So Who Does She Take After?

Let’s go Swimming!

Kiersten was born March 1st, which puts her sign as a Pisces.Pisces are know for being water lovers. Kiersten has already showed signs that she will fir her sign to a “T”. She loves to take baths, from the very first time I gave her one (a real one not a sponge bath, she hated that). So with today being such a beautiful day down here in Tampa, I decided to see what she would do in a pool. She obviously id too young to really get all the way in the pool, but ehat I did was sit her on the side and slowly dipped her feet into the water. She loved it! She started moving her feet around and began to watch the water splash. Good thing for Kiersten that we live in Florida. We have water all around us. She will be a beach baby in notime!

Kiersten keeps growing!!!

It’s been a while since I have typed anything in, it seems as if every time I go to type something Kiersten demands that I give her the attention. Isn’t that what we call parenthood!

Within the past week Kiersten has doubled in size. I ws just looking at some of the pictures on the website and saw the one with her and Olivia, our friends daughter. Olivia was two months old the day that Kiersten was born. I thought that she was huge compared to Kiersten, but when I enlarged the picture, I noticed that Kiersten looks exactly like Olivia. It is amazing. Kiersten and Olivia have the same shape of their fasce now, chubby, and their legs are the same, chubby! I get to go to the doctors next week and see how much she actually weighs, I am so excited. I am guessing about 10 - 12 pounds. I also looked at the picture that her uncle Mike took of her in an outfit that her grandma and grandpa buckingham bought her. Kiersten has now filled that out and I am guessing will out grow it in about a week or two.

Just found out this past weekend that my stepsister Nicki is having a baby girl in September. She is not going to tell us any names until she is born. Also on that note my step cousin Alana just had a baby boy last week. She named him Lucas. Congrats to both of you!!!!!

Our friends Dave and Randi emailed us the other day. They just had a baby girl two weeks after us (Kiersten’s original due date, March 17th). Dave mentiopned in his email how Kendell, their daughter had gone through her third diaper on one changing, and possibly starting a fourth while he was typing this email. I laughed because it brought back a funny situation that I had just two weeks after we had her home. When I went to go change her diaper and clean her up, more kept on coming. After the third diaper change, Kiersten decided it was time that I really got introduced to motherhood. She decided to change he butt into a shooting gun. Not only did it hit my shirt, but it flew all the way across our kitchen. I spent over an hour trying to clean it up. Brian could not do much but sit there and laugh because it happened to me and not him. She really taught me! (sorry if you are not a parent, that is the only way that you will understand the humor in this story).
